baby a

Just a quick few for the mama at home feverishly checking fb and the blog :)
Oh my isn't she just precious??

Have i ever told you all how much i love doing newborn sessions? I do. Man they are fun. Those little peanuts are so adorable. snuggly. and they're perfectly content, most of the time. Nothin' a little warming or a bottle can't fix! Newborns are lovely. There's no chasing, no convincing to smile, no awkwardness like there is some times with adults. Just a little ball of cuteness.

i think i like newborns because they become little works of art for their parents. You can get pictures of newborns where people look and all you can do is stare or give a little awwwe.

Oh geez. I can't stand it. ::sighs:: these two may just be my favorites.  Check out her eyes in the one above, amazing. This one below just melts my heart. She's just too much adorable in one little package. Thanks to my wonderful sis-in-law for the awesome basket for this picture! I love it.

Her mama thinks she has big feet. Maybe she'll be super tall?!
All i know is those toes are fun to tickle.

Dear Mom,
i really love this picture of me and daddy.
Please put it in my room.
Love,
baby a :)

Love when a picture becomes so personal!

e-let me know if you need anything changed, or if we want to swap out a picture.

Bins 5 & 6...the keeper of momentos returns

this morning had been less than productive. im currently surrounded by more stuff. this bin, not an easy one AT ALL! Why? because its full of scrapbook stuff and lots and lots of pictures, and writing from high school and undergrad. blech. im trying to purge and i thought today was going to be a really good day for me....i was in a "toss it" mood. But, now that im in the thick of it. ugh. so frustrated.

i've had to get rid of some stuff like this....
biochem notes? really erin? biochem notes. when the hell are you gonna look at those again? the kreb cycle? amino acids? if you need that as a reference what are you gonna do? thats right....your lazy bum is gonna GOOGLE it!! So just do it, throw it away. Done.

a print out of your sign? your an Aquarius....suprise! does that change how your day goes...ever?? no. toss it...ok but first i wanted to share this.... :)

my star's LIKES:  fighting for causes (how convenient), Dreaming and Planning for the Future, Thinking of the Past (you're kidding), Good Companions, Having Fun. my DISLIKES: full of air promises, excessive loneliness, the ordinary, imitations, idealistic.....wow. spot on eh? now its in print....and i can toss it!

Have you ever read the Great Gatsby? I read it a long time ago, and i remember it being really hard for me to read. I had to find symbols from the book and make display cards for my honors english class. I choose apparently "The Green Light" in the book. I used to be a really good writer. (man my skills have waned). Here's what i wrote...
"...a representation of Gatsby's dream.....winning daisy's love was Gatsby's american dream. Gatsby is presented as an ordinary person determined to reap great rewards from all that he has done...just as daisy had done, the voluptuous light eludes Gatsby's grasp of sole possession...There are some things that we can not let go of, no matter how far off course they throw us. Dreams or ideas that we cling to...but if we believe wholeheartedly in what we desire, we will also eventually be rewarded for what we have worked so hard for."

Man. If i had a therapist they'd sure have a lot to work with.

Among other things i found....my first diary...a binder that i decorated (see above)...two tea light candles that i probably took from someone's wedding...a copy of little women...a precious moments nick nack that says "a friend is a very special blessing"....the program from a friends wedding...a collage about ME made by friends...a copy of People: 200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons...newspapers from the flood of 97....
a newspaper from when lennon was shot...all of my souvenirs from a trip to Boston in the 11th grade.....souvenirs from our family vacation to florida, with a trip to the Kennedy space center...

an entire summer of governors scholar crammed into a plastic bag...

I found my gsp journal and one of the entries was "my 15 year gsp reunion" and oh geez....here's what i wrote....
"over the past 15years i have married my true love matthew after graduating from eku with a communications degree. i now have 2 kids, a 6 year old Brooklyn and a 4 year old boy Cole. My husband and i live in NKY still, and i work for the kentucky post as a journalist and my husband is a pilot for Delta. Before we had kids we took an amazing trip to europe and ireland-which was my favorite. One exciting thing ive done since '01 was to travel all over south america as a translator for tourist. i lived in los angelos just for fun for grad school at UCLA."

wow. total nerd. and totally different. i guess i never expected where i am now?!
crazy......i got one thing right ;)

oh my.... ♥ Valentine! ♥

I love him. bottom line, no bones about it, love him.
ushy, gushy, kissy, huggy, smoochy love him.
he's my bessstesst frand. i like that we're weird, together.

Sometimes i wanna strangle him. But then he goes and totally redeems himself :) We've only spent the last few valentine's days together. It just hadn't worked out for us to ever be together.  Our usual now....a movie, dinner, and little gifts. nope. not this year!! papaw did good!

We headed out on saturday the 13th, which i never questioned until the day of when i realized one of my toothbrushes was missing...thinking we'd beat the crowd. so much for that.  we had dinner at Cheddar's which was YUM OH! I could eat a half ton of their baked spasagna....i love it! I think my valentine was probably tired of me taking all my random pictures haha. sorry. it's an addiction.
The half hour wait was worth it, unlike last year's hour and a half wait for the old spaghetti factory.
After dinner we got in the card and headed ???? i had no idea where but we were headed for downtown. at one point i'm pretty sure the love of my life suggested he was taking me to dump my body in the river?!  yeah, no, he seriously said that. Happy Valentine's Day to you too!
no worries. he was joking....that's just our sense of humor.  sick huh? :)
Our ending destination was non other than the 21C Museum Hotel, for a romantical getaway. It was sooo cool.  It's this place downtown that is connected to the restaurant Proof on Main. the entire place is crazy. I think the idea most people get is that the restaurant and all its really weird, eclectic and extremely contemporary artwork is proof of life?? any takers on that theory? anyway the art is crazy and i love it. Check out their limo, wild huh? and the picture on the left i took in the elevator. They also have the coolest restrooms ever. If you're ever there walk past the mirror in front of the men's restroom and wave or laugh, or point and laugh. It's a two way mirror, they can see out from the inside when they are standing at the urinals but you can't see in when you walk past the mirror. Hilarious, especially if unsuspecting male potty user is caught off guard by a passerby'er pointing and laughing at them! hahaha. The ladies room is equally strange.

The hotel was an old factory i believe that was converted into a hotel so there's lots of exposed brick, metal beams, concrete floors, and the rooms have really high ceilings. The place is not decorated like your average hotel room. Sooo cool! Have i said that?
It really was a great suprise. It was kinda nice to getaway and do something different even if our trip was 10 minutes away.  Our room included a turn down service. It even had an ipod already hooked up with random music playing....i thought that was cool. When i say random think....Bob Dylan to Black Eyed Peas to Bach to Rascal Flatts to Christmas tunes! haha. Awesome. I think my valentine was more concerned with the chocolate covered strawberries than the music! I swear he loves chocolate more than he does me. This place is just different. Is that a rubber duckie in the shower? yup.

We opened our fancy schmancy chilled champagne, poured some bubbly, and headed downstairs to walk around and look at the artwork. A lot of my favorite pieces that were there the last time weren't there anymore. I mean no talking heads this time, no couple sleeping together on the floor, no sand tornado. But still, some cool pieces nonetheless. There was a private party going on so we couldn't walk around the entire place so we decided to head back to the room after awhile.
On the way to the elevators...after playing with the famous red penguin... my valentine stopped me all of a sudden "look, she's getting proposed to" Oh it was so sweet. We watched a guy get down on one knee and in a back hallway, by some elevators, away from the large and noisy party, he asked his adorable girlfriend to be his wife. She was more than suprised i think, and excited! I mean who would expect to be proposed to on the way back from the ladies room? Nice set up, i bet she never saw it coming.  It was a nice addition to our valentine's walk, couldn't have planned that if we tried! It brought back a lovely memory of our own engagement....when i was commanded to marry my dear husband. (not asked.) haha! Just kidding love.

This Valentine's suprise was wonderful and so creative. Very impressed sir :) i'd say mine was a little lack luster in comparison. i wonder what we'll do next year?

How did you guys spend your Valentine's Day???

xoxo-e

It was orange & black so i thought it was Halloween stuff...{bin #4}

Well, I was kinda close. The first few things were halloween goodies but after that...

a light up pumpkin
a scary hand candy dish
halloween decorations
a silver tea set
a glass pitcher
a hard rock cafe luggage tag
a handful of christmas wine glass charms
a silver salt and pepper shaker set
a halloween ghost (which my mom has probably been looking for but forgot she got rid of it, and therefore i saved it!)
a kitty cat tail, set of ears, and bowtie
a wooden cut out of a black cat
16 large plastic cups
a huge neon green party bin
a pumpkin carving kit
a wedding hat box
a camera case
a six pence
left over wedding invitations
a ginormous pair of ladies undies
our wedding programs-which i have painfully thrown out (ok i kept a few but threw out most of them)
a poem written for us by a dear friend

The wedding stuff brings back wonderful memories of our special day. That stuff is really hard for me to get rid of. I did throw a few things here and there but for the most part, the wedding stuff stayed. Its hard. i know i've said that a lot. i promise i'll get better.

happy birthday to me ?

today's my birthday. ewww. getting old is no fun.
apparently because of the horrific dump of snow on our region
i've been screwed in the card department. oh well.
i have gotten two cards, one from each of my grandmas
in florida. God bless florida and their mail carriers...
and grandma's that mail cards early ;)

so what am i doing for my big birthday.
jack. squat. nada. zilch. nil. zip.
i even have the next two days off from "work"
i had plans, and they got canceled. so me and my pitty
party are gonna stay at home, and probably clean out more
bins, watch more olympics, or straighten my room up. fun.
i might even shower.
did i mention getting old sucks?

apologies for this bitter blog. i'll be better later in the week.
after i drown my feelings with cake.

this brightened my day yesterday, well and today....
man i love that kid. and i mean who isn't a total sucker for a hand made card, especially by their favorite 3 year old?! I had to make the picture extra large so you could read my card :)

finding the light...{photo challenge: week 4}

wow. that's all i can say. this week's pictures are absolutely amazing. we've got some regulars now {way to stick to it guys!} and a few newbies {we hope you stay!} and let me tell you they brought their A game to this challenge. I'm so glad i made "finding the light" one of our challenges because it's a difficult task for photographers to master. In fact a lot of photographers shy away from dark shots, or shots with shadows on peoples faces...i used to at least. but i think its all how you look at the image, i love love dark pictures, probably more than i should. Often its that grainy look that gets people frustrated but as i've heard from others "embrace the grain!" Don't rely on that overcast day only to go shooting. Don't fear the sun either! Who says a mid-day shoot can't get you dramatic shots with bold colors and dark shadows, and often that just right, amazingly gorgeous sun flare. man i love the flare. Besides those dark shots, we've got some people thinking outside the box which I LOVE!
Keep it up guys, YOU rock. and now...

Crepe myrtle in the winter- ugly.  Add some snow and uplighting, and
it seemed to make it a little more interesting (especially considering
the snow was in Atlanta, Georgia...which rarely happens!)
{the colors in this are beautiful, the blues, purples...just lovely. Glad you've joined us!}

"Found this place that reminded me of the meadow in Twilight and got some really great shots! The sun playing through the trees created some really interesting shadows and light play!"
{love this girl's work. the light striking her hair/eyes/face
contrasting the shadows...fierce. you should take time to view her work, im just sayin'}
