Ray Charles & the Shut In...

That's us right now, in a nut shell.

For those that didn't get to enjoy the *beautiful* weekend down at Lake Cumberland [we're not bitter...] Matthew had a little incident with his new contacts. He recently got new fancy schmancy contacts for his Keritaconus (HA! I bet that's definitely not spelled right). The contact is like a hard gas perm in the center with a soft skirt around the outside so its the size of a normal contact and stays in his eyes better. He's been doing really well with them and has enjoyed the break from his glasses. In his absence from the contact world however, he hasn't been in the habit of taking them out every night in a ritualistic fashion. Sunday night after being out on the lake all day *cough* [drinking] *cough* he forgot to take his contacts out and fell asleep with them in. Big NO! NO!-especially with hard contacts. When he tried to take them out in the morning the left one scratched his eye pretty good. After a trip to "Lake Cumberland Hospital" and Beth&George having to drive him allll the way back to Louisville....i think it's been a fairly long 24 hours. Luckily, its just a corneal abrasion---really painful but he should be ok.

Right now....Matthew's been awake for approximately 3 hours I'd say since about 2pm yesterday. He's sleeping again right now. I asked him last night if he felt any better and he said it didn't hurt nearly as bad. Hmmm....I don't know, i think that may have been the hydrocodone talking. Other than sleeping, he's been attempting to feel his way around as his scoots around the house sporting the Oakley sunglasses. Meanwhile, i've been trying to study in the dark :) which lends itself to tempting naps. So, no work for matthew today, probably a lot of sleeping. We may drive home tomorrow to go to his eye doctor for a follow up--we're going to call and see what they recommend, or we may just go somewhere down here. But, he's doing much better for all you lucky people who went to Cumberland and may be concerned.

As for boring ol' me.....i've been studying my tail off. Took a four hour practice test yesterday. Yea. That was fun. To summarize, the analysis sheet pretty much said I should drop out of med school and become a professional beader. :) jk. But i wasn't to happy (at all) with my predicted score so I'm reading through the 200 questions and their explanations and doing more practice questions throughout the rest of today, tomorrow, thursday, friday...you get the picture...until my head explodes. I'm bummed out I didn't get to finish this months book for book club [Jodi Picoult's--19 Minutes] it's really good so far but I'm way behind and I obviously can't afford to take a whole afternoon to finish it. I know there's going to be a lot of good discussion on this one...which stinks cause I'm gonna have to miss it :( stupid med school.

Update on my other websites.....I'm still doing them just short on time. I've still been taking a picture of the day. Yes, all the way back to April 12th I just have to download, edit, and post which I plan to do right after my test during my week of **FREEDOM** I just warn you now, I seriously am like a shut in only I have two homes--here, and Bellarmine's library--so my pictures are well...strugglin' for creativity. As for Designs By Erin, I have about 20 new bracelets, a few necklaces, earrings, and rings--I know right? get excited!-- to post, pictures already taken just waiting to be edited and posted. And don't worry, most of the one's I've made I can actually sell this time :) Everyone keeps telling me I can't keep all of them....what is that??? ridiculous.

I'll be back soon. Just give me nine days. *Dear God, please keep me sane for ni--strike that-- ten more days*
better be safe in case there's a time zone change from here to heaven....e

Love the title too! We almost missed Derby one year due to a contact disaster! Tommy has frequent contact dilemmas but none to this degree! Poor Matt. Good luck on your test.
