you know how much i ♥ babies!

Spread the word! :) On April 19th, I will be participating in the March of Dimes, which has now changed its name to "March for Babies". I'll be walking here in Louisville at the Bowman Field Airport. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. They provide mothers and babies in the community with the resources and help they need to get a healthy start.

Many people you know and love have been touched by the March Of Dimes and you probably arent even aware of it! Especially anyone you know who was born premature or had a premature baby..in the past few seconds i've been able to think of about eight people I know off the top of my head. So please help out if you can. Visit my personal web page at http://www.marchforbabies.org/erinmtuemler
and donate if you can.

My hope is that each person who reads this will donate at least $1 or $2 to help me reach my goal and maybe even exceed it. A few bucks that will help save babies lives and change families forever. I'm not going to guilt you into donating lots of money, all I'm asking is to see if you can donate a dollar or two...come on you'll hardly even miss them:) If you would like to donate more PLEASE feel free to do so. Its online, and its quick and easy. It will be greatly appreciated. Pass this information on to anyone and everyone you know, if you'd like!

Thank you Thank you Thank you for all of your support!
Let's save some babies...

EarthHour

Has anyone ever heard of this before?? I hadn't. But apparently today March 29th from 8-9pm major cities around the world will be turning off the lights! It started in Sydney Australia last year, and has now gone global.....

sydney, australia 2007

Now, I'm not real big on the whole "go green" movement, i know shame on me right? But anyway, I think this is a great idea. I mean how hard could it be, we're just talkin about the lights. What a perfect time for a candle lit dinner, to take a shower or a bath with candles, you can even watch a movie or those basketball games still, just turn off all the lights:) It's really amazing if you think about it. Major cities all over the world are turning off their lights for just an hour and saving tons and tons of energy....Sydney Austrailia, Vietnam, China, Bangkok Thailand, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Phillipines, have or will be participating. Even right here at home in San Fransisco the Golden Gate Bridge's lights will go out among other things, and then later tonight Chicago will follow California's lead as they too will flip the switch.

Check out how much Earth is lit up at night! Thats a LOT of energy!

*In that ONE HOUR Bangkok already saved 73.34 megawatts of electricity which would have produced 45.8 tons of Carbon Dioxide. If you're like me "megawatts" means nothing to you so here's a little perspective....

  • 73.34 Megawatts of electricity is equal to a little more than 2001 Gallons of Gas

  • Todays gas prices in the US ranged from $2.57-$4.38, that puts that 1Hour of lights out, saving some where between $5142.57 and $8764.38. Wow!

  • This intrigued me so to further your understanding.......

  • Using my car (chevy cobalt) at roughly 24 miles per gallon, 2001 Gallons gets me in the ballpark of 48,024 miles.

  • Stay with me.... it takes (via google maps) exactly 78.9 miles to get from our front door to my mom and dad's driveway. A total of 157.8 miles to drive for a trip home and back minimum, or 6.575 gallons of gas.

  • The amount of energy in 73.34 MW/h would allow me to drive home and back about 304.335 times! OR Every single weekend for the next 5.85 YEARS!!!

  • If you still don't get it here's one last try.....the 73.34 MW saved in that one hour equivalent to 2001 gallons of gas, would allow me to drive from our house here in Louisville, KY to Juno, Alaska AND back home again.....8 times!
  • for one hour people. one. hour.

And you thought you were just saving a little dough everytime you flip those lights off when leaving a room! :)

It's not that we don't care about good ol' momma earth it's just not something that we think about directly affecting us everyday-the energy "crisis" that is. So this is my small way of helping out without going out and purchasing a trendy lil' hybrid, or toting my cloth grocery bags to the store, or unplugging every single appliance in my house when not in use. This is easy, and I ain't gonna lie sometimes I'm lazy and easy just works. If you want more information you can read about Earth Hour on the CNN site, and even watch video of the Opera House and other areas in Sydney turning their lights out from a birds eye view!

Here's more info on Earth Hour here in the US (they even have a site with ideas for what to do for that one hour.)

Have fun in the dark :) It's just an hour!

no pressure

You all have got to watch this video. It's of a little girl, she's 17 months old, and it was on the Today show a week or so ago. She really can read already. You have to watch. It seems at first like maybe she's just heard things over and over or memorized stories but keep watching. I believe both of her parents are speech-pathologist but they say they've never worked with her on reading at all. They seem grateful to be blessed with a child who is very intelligent, but realize it will also pose obstacles for them in the future. I think everyone is very different about when and how they teach their children certain things and that's part of the beauty of it all. You can push your kids to work harder and excel at things maybe before they are expected to know them, like reading, and your kid may not like to read at all. Or, you can let them watch tv,
or play and explore what things are on their own and before you know it they're sitting quietly reading book after book just pleased as peaches.

In this next video you can really tell that she is actually reading, she even signs "good" when she reads "good morning ann"

*warning: the following may contain poor grammar,
words that spell checker will NOT pick up, and possibly a lil' hillbilly speak*

I've gathered from discussions that when I was little, people thought i was really smart, like everyone does with their child or grandchild. But, i'm not convinced. I've watched family videos of me wandering around with a pacie (pronounced: PA-SEE) in my mouth until i was 3, grunting like a cave person, looking not just like i had dressed myself, but somewhat reminiscent of, a hobo.
I wish that I could post a certain video on here, however its on VHS-that's right kids, from one of those camcorders you had to hold like a boom box on your shoulder. Regardless, this certain video demonstrates my grace and eloquence when using pronouns or attempting to make anything plural.....

E: "hers sick. yea. she has fevers so we cant play.
but i gave them medicine shots."
M: "well, nurse erin, what's wrong with them?"
E: "I dun-no. WELL... him got the chicken pox from her and and
him gave em to her and she uh her gave ems to her
and they all are sick now."

Let's put it this way. If i was a crayola "crown" in the 96 box WITH the sharpener, i wouldn't be the brightest one catching your eye. In fact, you probably wouldn't color with ME, until you'd snapped like 64 of them in half. But that's ok. Your loss. 'Cause what you wouldnt know, is even if i looked like a yucky color, and my wrapper was sticky or a little disheveled...
I- am- a- "Dang -good- Colorer"

mom. how's this for a post?
like me?
Random, possibly strange even, or disconnected at times...yet still entertaining ;)

a Brief Blizzard in the 'Ville

OK. So it takes me a "little" while to finally edit pictures and get them posted on here. So in lieu of the brief and freak, large, snow flurry furry we encountered on our drive home on Sunday night....the pictures from the "blizzard" a few weeks back when we were literally trapped in the house. I'm gonna make a valiant effort to post Easter pictures before the Fourth of July lol :)

Whew...matthew is gonna have fun diggin' those out!

According to our field reporter "moose" we accumulated almost 8 inches

nice.

"matthew, you watch for cars, make sure they don't hit me"

oh thats not good at all...try again. this is why i'm never in "front" of the lens

Seriously, stop taking pictures of me...

our street.

Our "igloo," made just for Rob.

This was before we dug our cars out.

the end of our street.

I said, "hey go hang on that light pole"....

Walking around our neighborhood.

Probably the most accurate measure of our snow fall.

I just really enjoy this shot.
I realize my captions may be overly verbally stimulating for you (that has to be poor poor grammar some how, i blame the fact that i was raised in verona!) haha! but, I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Lots of studying to do recently so not a lot of time to write. Tomorrow night we have book club so i'll have to update how that goes. We just finished reading "A long Way Gone," it was very sad. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, i need time to reflect.
peace.

unbelievable

Occasionally when I happen to catch it on, I've been watching America's Best Dance Crew. Here's a few of my favorite performances. I'm not sure how you can watch these and not think these crews are absolutely incredible. I love it. Makes me want to get up and dance :)

1st...KabaModern. These kids are from UCirvine and their attention to detail is mind blowing. I was so impressed with their version of "Thriller". It's probably in the top 3 of all the performances this year. Sorry Sara, no slicky suit involved.

Next up...this is JabbaWockeez. I know, hard to say, but you'll be impressed. They have a very different style. They combine tricks with the most amazing choreography. You may have seen them in StepUp2. They do every dance with these mask on, which sorta creeped me out at first but it really adds something. I think if I had to choose a favorite this season, this would be it. This challenge was the evolution of dance.

JabbaWockeeZ during the Michael Jackson challenge, perform to a mix of PYT.

Final performance from KabaModern during the evolution of dance challenge. They did such a good job. I really thought it should be them and JabbaWockeeZ in the finale.

which performance was your favorite?
The song at the end of that last video, Get Buck in Here, is my favorite song of the moment. I cant help it, every time it comes on i wanna get up and act a fool. :) so feel free to give me a call if you know me, because it's currently my ring tone as well! (i am aware that i'm a freak! lol)
Mamaw, hope you enjoy the newest youtube videos...seemed like your kinda thing! :)

carry a small piece and lighten the load.

You may not know her, I dont. But when I read about her life's experiences, I see pieces of myself, my little sister, my mother, my mamaw, my friends, my niece, my cousins, my aunts, my sister-in-law, pieces of every strong woman that has ever touched my life even in the slightest way or for the briefest moment. If she was your sister, your friend, your daughter then you would want anyone and everyone to pray for her. So take a minute of out your day. Please. Pray for strength. Pray for a body that has the wisdom, the energy, and the will to Heal. Pray for reassurance, for gratitude, for determination, for faith. Pray for good news, for baby steps, for small victories. Pray for positive, healing vibes :) Even if you don't consider yourself to be religious, with a full heart pray...
Lord, continue to use Alison as your soldier, continue to show us your miracles through her strength and healing.

for your viewing pleasure :)

I'm still editing some pictures from the shower so as soon as I finish, those are up! Followed shortly thereafter by our "blizzard of 08" experience in the ville. It's taking me awhile to learn the new editing program. I should probably delete the old one that i have, i use it like a crutch. but i cant. its like my friend, you cant just toss out a friend right?! I know people always learn better/faster in emersion programs but I like a transition time.

On other picture news....I do solomnly (is that spelled right?) swear that I WILL work on my wedding pictures...no. at least finish my album, THIS WEEK! That's right people, I got married almost two years ago (holy hannah seriously?) and i STILL havent finished our wedding pictures. I've been busy ok? that and everytime i sit down to work on it, i think of a new photo project to start up. Its a problem, borderline obsession i think. Ease up. A girl needs a creative outlet.

Because i'm still editing pictures and everyone can always use a break in their day for a good laugh or a smile......here's some videos to watch, most are fairly short except one. ENJOY loves!

*Tara had greek sing a little while back so here's the video of the Delta Zetas, Theta Chis, and SAEs performing! I think they did a great job, I'm a little biased bc I didnt see anyone else but I still think they should have at least placed. I'm convinced its because they went second in the line-up.... it's always the line-up. always. :) The Bring It On section is by far my favorite part!!(the first few seconds are the announcers introduction, and you cant understand what they are saying so just wait a bit)

This video is of Lambda Chi and Chi O the 2008 Greek sing champs...Congrats!
It's a lot of time, money, stress, and argueing so they deserve it just as much as anyone. props.

(the beginning is good, and the final song is the best but other than that I wasnt "blown away")

For all you fellow EKU greekers.....ADPi and Sigma Pi placed Second, and Kappa Alpha Theta placed 3rd! Ahhh.....remember the days (all too clearly!)

*I stopped by A room Somewhere and Leslie had posted this video which, if you are a fan of project runway you MUST watch! Hilarious. If you have time check out a room somewhere, its a cute blog, most of the time she's short sweet and to the point and she's always finding great sites to share. It's a quick check. (I'm guessing this video came from the NBC webpage.) FIERCE!!

I really hope these videos work because i just learned how to do this.....obviously.

*OMG!! this little dude is awesome....i so wish my kid can do this shortly after being potty trained! LOL!! At first it looks like he's just falling a lot, but give it a second and WHOAA!

Last one....for today! Haha, sorry but i'll be posting videos more often at least until i get bored of it :) This one is because i seem to have a theme going and didnt even realize it, and because you've ashamedly done at least half of these at some point in your life!

~I'm out!

and the winner is....

CHRISTIAN!!
the official winner of Project Runway Season4!

Some of the pieces from Christian's line...

So f-i-e-r-c-e!

i mean i'd never wear it but,
i can appreciate the artistic effort

this is one of the pieces that everyone raved about...

but all i could think of was this piece from America's Next Top Model a few seasons back...and i like christian, but he totally swiped "fierce" from tyra

This Season of Project Runway was awesome, I ♥ 'd it! Did anyone else know that Jillian, Christian, Rami, Chris, AND SweetP all showed collections at Bryant Park?! When I found these pictures I was sooooooo happy, especially for Sweet P! She was heart-broken when she found out she was the only one that wasnt going to have a chance to be at fashion week. Here's a sampling of the other contestants, and some of their best pieces (in my opinion) which ones are your fave?

jillian...

rami...

chris...

sweet p...

hope you enjoy the pictures they took forever to find and edit! it's been awhile since i've posted, but its because i've been doing WHATEVER i want! HA! So, i'm on spring break, but i have no plans. I'm okay with that though. See you soon....pictures from Erin R.'s shower, up next.....
